Winter is harsh. Being out in the cold and being cold is not enjoyable to anybody. So when our house became draftier and draftier every year I knew we had to do something. Our heating bill was getting pretty outrageous and with the price of oil always threatening to go up it became a priority. There seem to be a lot of ways that people recommend insulating your home but I kept coming back to the one that made the most sense. It was not economically the best decision, not by far, initially at least but in time it would pay for itself many times over. What I found to be my best option was double glazing all the windows in my home. An added benefit is that they look really nice and our house needed a boost in the looks department as well. My wife balked at the estimate the contractors gave us but once I explained everything to her she conceded. They start replacing our old windows this weekend.
